Twitter Haiku Challenge: The First Week

Well, so far, so good.  I’ve managed a haiku everyday.  Here are the fruits of my first week’s labors (even though it wasn’t a full week…).  The Twaikus from Week 1 of National Poetry Month:

the horizon is/no longer fixed, in flight/a breeze leads astray

the robin sits, king/against the early green shoots/his, this patch of earth

whispers in blossoms/sweet words brush gentle, lips part/eyes close against sun

branches twist awkward/gives voice to wind, howling/your absence haunting

April brings late snow/blankets awakening earth/tender buds in ice

I am happier with some than with others…what can I say?  A poem a day doesn’t leave a lot of time for revision.
